On 21–22 September, the BioSense Institute hosted a meeting of the Core Expert Group and Steering Group dedicated to implementing the Hoverflies Specialised to Veteran Trees in Europe – Conservation Action Plan 2023–2030.

The meeting was organised as part of the project “Support to the Implementation of Conservation Plans for Threatened Pollinator Species”. Our colleague Marija Miličić, PhD, is a member of the project’s Core Expert Group. Participants included representatives of the IUCN European Regional Office, the Institute for European Environmental Policy (IEEP), the Faculty of Technical Sciences at the University of Novi Sad, the University of the Aegean in Greece, and conservation charity Buglife.

During their visit, participants learned about BioSense’s research activities and facilities and discussed opportunities for future collaboration. The programme also included visits to the Institute’s Entomology Laboratory and Kamenički Park, connecting the discussions on pollinator conservation with the habitats at the heart of the project.
