Slavica Savić Ružić

Position:Principal research fellow
Academic Rank: Principal research fellow in the field of technical/technological sciences - material science
Dr. Slavica Savić Ružić is a Principal Research Fellow at the Center for Sensing Technologies of the BioSense Institute. She graduated from the Faculty of Physical Chemistry, University of Belgrade, and earned her PhD in Materials in Electronics from the Faculty of Technical Sciences, University of Novi Sad in 2009. She has extensive experience in national and international projects, having coordinated a bilateral research project and one funded by the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development. In 2012, she was a visiting researcher (postdoc) at Pontifícia Universidade Católica (PUC) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. She previously led work packages in the IDEAS – Microlabaptasens project (2022–2025) and the Horizon 2020 Twinning project NANOFACTS (2021–2024). Currently, she leads work packages in projects funded by the Science Fund of the Republic of Serbia: PRISM – MULTISENSE (2023–2026) and the Horizon Europe project Know4Nano (2024–2027), where she also serves as co-coordinator.
Her research interests include materials science, advanced processing and characterization of ceramic materials, solid-state chemistry, and physics. She is currently focused on the synthesis and characterization of MOx and 2D materials for applications in gas sensing, such as breath analysis, as well as in (bio)sensors related to environmental monitoring and food safety. She is author and co-author of 56 scientific papers in high-impact journals, numerous conference papers, and one book chapter.
